In this passage we see were Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees who refuse to see Jesus for who He is, the Son of God. Consequently they expected Jesus’ disciples to act exactly as they did. They wanted to squeeze Jesus into their own mold. What the Pharisees missed was the fact that Jesus birth and the inauguration of His earthly ministry signaled a watershed moment in the history of redemption. In these verses we are taught to consider carefully the shift from the Old Testament to the New Testament. To fail to see the differences could have profound consequences.
